Sadly I am now familiar with the concept of foodbanks. My daughter & I began our new monthly routine last week to donate to the one in Cupar in Fife. Sad as per the need for their existence, however I am quite taken with the idea. I am now looking for alternate avenues to assist people. With this in mind, does anyone know if there is a system in place to donate electricity and/or gas to people in need? A 'YES to Power' fund! A 'YES to heat' collection! In the grand scheme of things we all want to make this a better place. I like the idea of being able to help people now, in addition to being able to 'allegedly (sorry couldn't resist)' have a say at the ballot box! Wouldn't it be great to in effect be able to circumvent those who don't not have our best interests at heart.

This is a great idea, with the winter coming up, people and a lot of children will have to stay indoors without adequate heating. It would also be good for them to make hot meals.
A quick google doesn't turn up any results though. It would be better for existing charities / food banks to implement this as people know about them already?

Like your thinking. Could potentially do something along the lines of sponsorship where instead of buying relatives Christmas presents Scottish people who are struggling could get help with heating, food, children's toys etc. Could send donors thankyou cards and updates. Good way to keep people up to date with the yes movement too ;-). Maybe work along side Glasgow Needy?
